In China before 1949 and in the early 1950s, the methods of building scaffolding were bamboo or wooden structures. In the 1960s, steel pipe scaffolding with couplers was promoted.

According to relevant statistics, about one-third of the accidents that occur in China's construction system every year are directly or indirectly related to the use of erection tools.
With the increasing maturity and improvement of the Chinese construction market, bamboo and wood scaffolding has gradually phased out the construction market and is still in use only in some remote areas; However, gantry scaffolding and bowl buckle scaffolding are rarely used in municipal, bridge, and engineering projects. Generally, fastener type pipe scaffolding, with its advantages of simple maintenance, long service life, and low investment cost, occupies more than 70% of the domestic market and has great development space.
