Advantages of Anchor Nut

Long-Lasting

When you fix your materials together using anchor fixing bolts, you can expect them to last over 20 years or much longer. These bolts are highly durable, and their resistance to shear and tension forces allows you to get the most out of your fixing investments.

Anchors are strong and suited to large-scale projects, such as building bridges, securing highway signage, and building skyscrapers. If other bolts are not strong enough for your project, anchor fixings can withstand a substantial load - should you purchase the suitable bolt types and lengths.

Material of Anchor Nut

Anchor Nuts consist of a steel zinc plated nut in a nylon or steel cage. They offer a simple but effective fastening solution for thin materials. It is installed by placing the wings on the nut into the special hole and then turned through 90°. When the screw is tightened the wings then clamp the plate. The special hole can be drilled then clipped out with a hand-clipping tool. For larger volume applications the required hole should be punched.

Use of Anchor Nut

You will find that anchor nuts are just about the only way you can make some installations. The most frequently affected problem locations are the following:

Inspection access covers and hatches.

Cowling attachment.

Installation of accessories on the firewall.

The installation of antennas.

Instrument panel installation.

The attachment of wing root fairings.

Propeller spinner/bulkhead installation.

Install of Anchor Nut

Clamp the two parts together and drill a 1/8" alignment hole through both of them where the attaching screw/bolt is to be installed.

Separate the two parts and set the top piece aside.

Place an anchor nut over the drilled hole in the bottom part and clamp it with a 1/8" Cleco.

A: A Rivet Nut designed with a thicker head for use where a standoff or spacer is required. An anchor nut (also called a nut plate) is a self-locking nut that is used in blind applications where access to one side of the application material is limited.

A: Some anchor nut versions are made with an axial tensile strength of 160,000 psi, in accordance with MIL-N-25027. Anchor nuts are made with either steel or A286, corrosion resistant steel (CRES,). Common unified thread sizes include 4-32, 4-40, 6-32, 8-32, 10-32, 1/4-28, 5/16-24, 3/8-24 and7/16-20.
